Six ans après son dernier album, Flex Blur revient en force sur Le French Work avec « Balance » : douze pistes aux ambiances variées, résolument orientées Juke/Footwork. Avec l’aide de nombreux artistes internationaux tels que Regent Street, lotus echo ou encore BNDT72, il décide d’apporter sa pierre à l’édifice de la musique Footwork et dérivés en France.

Flex Blur est un artiste français qui, depuis une quinzaine d’années, s’amuse à explorer une multitude de styles. Influencé par la musique de jeux vidéo, puis par la scène IDM proéminente de l'époque (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre), il a commencé la musique électronique sur PlayStation avec Music 2000 avant de composer sur ordinateur. Multi-instrumentiste en parallèle, il se donne pour objectif de mélanger les univers et de délivrer une musique pointue, afin de proposer à chaque nouvel album une immersion dans un univers bien distinct des précédents.

L’album commence avec « balek », ode à l’évasion et à l’audace, démontrée par l'absence d'une quelconque ligne de basse pourtant caractéristique du genre. On navigue au cours des douze pistes entre différentes humeurs, des planantes « Edge » et « Poussière » à des « Vision » et « Z.U.C.C. » un peu plus lourdes, ou encore d’autres plus émotionnelles comme « Abandon » ou « Lumière », sur laquelle se termine l’album. Avec « Balance », Flex Blur nous apporte une variété de sensations, transmises à travers le prisme de la musique Footwork originaire de Chicago.

Six years after his last album, Flex Blur is back on Le French Work with “Balance”: twelve Juke/Footwork-oriented tracks with various moods. In order to make a contribution to the Footwork scene and styles alike in France, he sought help from many international artists such as Regent Street, lotus echo and BNDT72.

Flex Blur is a French artist who has been exploring several styles over the past 15 years. Taking his influences from video game music to the prominent IDM scene at the time (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre), he started composing electronic music on PlayStation with Music 2000 before moving onto PC, while also practicing various instruments. According to him, each new album must be a full immersion in a world that is very distinct from his previous ones, as he aims to blend different universes and create unique productions.

The album starts with the track “balek” (roughly translated as “IDGAF”), an ode to evasion as well as boldness, as proved by the absence of a bass line – though characteristic of the genre. We sail along these twelve tracks between different moods, from the light “Edge” and “Poussière” to the heavier “Vision” and “Z.U.C.C.”, reaching more emotional ones with “Abandon” or “Lumière”, on which the album comes to an end. With “Balance”, Flex Blur invites us to experience a myriad of feelings through the prism of Chicago Footwork.
